New Work by Ruby Fulton for Wind Ensemble and Audience: Commissioning Consortium

About the piece
The University of Idaho Wind Ensemble and Dr. Mark Thiele are leading a Commissioning Consortium for a new work by composer Ruby Fulton. The new work will be a Grade 4-5 difficulty level and 5-8 minutes long. The music will be groove-based and include a guided part for the audience.
Throughout the pandemic, as Mark and I brainstormed for this new collaboration and watched our initial timeline move back again and again, the conversation turned to how much we have missed live performance and live audiences. We know this is a sentiment shared by musicians and music-lovers across the globe. As we have coped with this missing part of our lives together with our colleagues, friends and students, a newly found appreciation for the joy of live music has emerged. We decided that a piece in celebration of the live audience is a fitting way to express our gratitude.
Stats: 5-8 minutes long, Grade 4-5 Wind Ensemble and Audience, music available by November 1, 2021, available for performance by Consortium bands after University of Idaho premiere performance, tentatively scheduled for November 18, 2021.
Instrumentation: 2 Flute, 1 Piccolo, 2 Oboe, 2 Bassoon, 3 Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, 2 Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Bari Sax, 4 Horns in F, 3 Trumpets, 2 Tenor trombones, Bass Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba, String Bass, Percussion (4 players + timpani), Audience
About the Consortium
We invite band directors to join the Commissioning Consortium and be a part of bringing this new 5-8 minute work for Wind Ensemble and Audience to life. Deadline to join the Consortium is October 1, 2021.
